A PUB that has been raising money for different charities for over a decade has raised more than it ever has before this year.

What a Year!

Worcesternews martynThe Northwick Arms in Worcester has raised more than £8,000 this year for Prostate Cancer UK. The pub has raised money for different charities each year since landlords Martyn and Jackie, took over more than a decade ago.

Martyn (pictured) said: "We have been here for 12 years, and we raise money for a different charity every year.

"This year, we have raised around £8,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. We did all sorts. We did a walk from Malvern and back to the pub, dragon boat racing, bingos, quizzes, raffles, and more. It's just something we have done at every pub we have been at. Next year, we will be raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital. For the size of the pub, it's incredible. For a small little pub in a back street to raise this much money is phenomenal".

In 2024, The Northwick Arms raised money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This year the Vine Street Pub broke all records thanks to a £1,000 donation from one customer's company.

Martyn added: "It's big news because one in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. One of our regulars has just gone through it, so it is quite close to home. It's a community pub, and we have all pulled together. I'm really proud".

"People ask what we do to raise the money, and they are shocked. For a pub of this size to have done so much, it's all really down to our lovely customers. We never have a target, but it's the highest amount we have ever raised".
